The International Symposium!

One of the key highlights to this years Vinexpo in Hong Kong, was the Vinexpo University - strategically providing an extensive programme of over 30 tastinigs, conferences, seminars and presenations staged in conjunction with the exhibition and developed by individual exhibitors and organizations. RW International took this opportunity to engage over a 100 guests in an open symposium on the topic of Marketing Wine. In an interactive blind tasting (featuring Schott Zwiesel - Zwiesel 1872 Gourmet Collection - The First and The First-Black crystal glassware) and panel member discussion the "International Symposium: Understanding Wine Trends: More Than Branding vs Terroir." held on Wednesday 28th May 2008 - featured 8 panel members and lead by respected wine-expert and writer Robert Joseph - the symposium addressed issues of:
  • Polarization in the wine industry between: Mass-production and terrior based marketing.
  • Consumer, Trade, Hospitality and Media influence on wine marketing (packaging, placement, price, promotion)
  • One Brand for all Markets Strategy and the question of whether this is outdated or appropriate for Asia.
  • The Emerging Asian Consumer Groups and the opportunity these provide globally exported wines.
  • Innovations in Marketing of Wines and their relevance to Asia.

For the audience of trade, regional media and hospitality - the discussion between panel members and moderator was received extremely positively, with insightful personal experiences and observations of the industry.
